Guide shafts and linear bearings

Guide shafts and linear bearings
Linear ball bearings are special ball bearings with an extraordinary, because axial (instead of radial) ball circulation. The purpose of this bearing is not the storage of a rotating element, but the lowest possible guidance of the translative motion of a machine element along a cylindrical shaft. This creates one of several types of a special linear guide, the so-called shaft guide.

Guide shafts and linear bearings

Linear ball bearings

Linear ball bearings are used in many technical applications such as machine tools and machining centers, automatic cutting machines, printing machines, card selection machines as well as in food packaging machines. Furthermore, linear ball bearings can be used for the construction of linear tables and other displacement devices.

Precision shafts

Precision shafts are used to mount rotating parts and to transmit rotational motion and torques. In addition - combined with linear ball bearings, shaft blocks and housings - with precision shafts economical linear guides can be obtained.

Application: In mechanical engineering, shafts are one of the most frequently used machine elements. Precision shafts are very well suited as guide shafts in conjunction with linear ball bearings or profile rollers. The inductive hardened precision shafts are also outstandingly suitable for stretch and straightening rolling mills.
